Residencies at the Arab Image Foundation

The residency program seeks to support projects by practitioners and scholars related to the collection of the Arab Image Foundation, or to photography and the archive more generally. Whether conducted on-site in Beirut or elsewhere, an AIF residency is envisaged as an intense period of research and production and favours a multidisciplinary approach to art, research and archiving. Residencies at the AIF are not geographically limited to Beirut: we also encourage practitioners working independently or within foreign institutions to carry out long-distance residencies.

Residents are encouraged to contribute to the overall mission and public programming of the AIF in Beirut, in addition to the Lab section of its website. Artists or researchers in residence will have access to the AIF's collection in addition to its library, which includes more than 2,300 books related to photography, collecting and archives, and the Arab world.
Residency calls are announced in our newsletter and on our social media channels.

The AIF also considers residency applications submitted independently of a specific residency call.

Residents have access to the AIF collection and library and are encouraged to contribute to the Foundation's public programming. We are regrettably unable to offer financial support or accommodation for self-initiated residencies.
